Alumni Weekend 2011

Classes ending in 1’s or 6’s, along with the Class of 2009, celebrated at Alumni Weekend this year. In addition to the always popular parade of reunion classes and Alumni Collection, highlights included a family carnival, a folk music hootenanny/jam session, an all-alumni softball game, a faculty-led walking tour of the Crum Woods, a talk by U.S. Senator Carl Levin '56, a tribute and art dedication to Debra Pinder Symonette '78, and a performance by folk music legend Doc Watson in memory of Ralph Rinzler '56, as well as numerous panel discussions and lectures. President Rebecca Chopp hosted her annual conversation with alumni in the Lang Music Building, while Associate Professor of Music John Alston again directed the annual performance of Handel's Messiah with Joanna Curtis '01 as a featured soloist, and the List Gallery hosted its third alumni art show. June Rothman Scott '61 gave the Collection address and Evan Gregory '01 led the amphitheater crowd in singing the alma mater.
