I love that Swarthmore now has jazz in the music department!! What a change from when I was a Sw. student 40 years ago! I don't think any of the music prof's even acknowledged that jazz WAS music. Jazz wasn't even a word in the music department vocabulary.
The Tiger Rag clip on the Sw. web site is a brilliant idea (a friend told me about it).
I've been enjoying the jazz ensemble concerts and am impressed with Drew's knowledge of the repertoire and with his skill in bringing together kids with talent and elan, to create such beautifully crafted concerts. Congratulations all 'round!
